The story so far

How Niko was found

Niko was tied to a fence in Khayelitsha. By the time the team got him to a vet, he could no longer use his back legs. The vet says spinal surgery is the only path back to walking — and we have a narrow window before the damage becomes permanent.

Niko had his pre-surgery consult this morning — the orthopaedic vet cleared him for the procedure on the 28th and his bloodwork came back clean. He's eating well and even wagged his tail when I walked in this afternoon.

Thank you to everyone who's donated in the first 48 hours. We've already covered the imaging costs, which means we can move straight to surgery prep once the goal is hit.
