The story so far

Daisy's diagnosis

Daisy was one of fifteen dogs surrendered when a small township shelter shut down. Her bloodwork came back positive for late-stage heartworm. Treatment is a long, expensive course — but the prognosis is good if we start in the next month.

Daisy starts her first dose of melarsomine on the 28th. The next four weeks will be hard — strict crate rest, no excitement, no running. Her foster has set up a quiet room with everything she needs.

The rescue

Jozi Paws

Township rescue collective · Johannesburg, South Africa

Since 2012

Jozi Paws is a small Johannesburg collective working with township shelters across Soweto and Orange Farm. The team focuses on medical cases shelters can't fund alone — heartworm, biliary, orthopaedic surgery — and pulls dogs into foster homes while they recover.

A focused, direct and rescue-vetted way to help dogs.
